Today people are on the move. We're learning more, introducing more new activities, and doing more in general. As we age and when the level of physical activity increases, the requirement for stronger balanced bodies and the risk of injury increases. Whether it's an athlete of any age, an industrial worker performing physical tasks or even an average citizen delving into recreational athletics, the need for a solid, well planned “functional core training” program is necessary. BL•A•S•T™ is an active recovery ‘bootcamp’ style workout that strengthens the body’s core and stabilizer muscles.
What is BL•A•S•T™?
BL•A•S•T™ is a state-of-the-art, scientific and systematic approach to complete fitness, based on the concepts of strengthening the body’s stabilizer muscles and core training. Traditional core training focuses on the body’s “powerhouse” - the torso. BL•A•S•T™ starts at the “hub of the core” and works out to the body of the core, (the torso) then works the limbs, the hands and feet.

BL•A•S•T™ strengthens the core by first focusing on the “Deep Core Layer” (the area closest to the spine), works through the “Middle Core Layer” (the muscles that provide the stability required to keep the lower back working without injury or pain), to the “Outer Core Layer” (the large, thick muscles found just below the skin).

By starting at a deeper level and working out to the power generating muscles, the BL•A•S•T™ program improves performance, develops the core, and builds strength from the inside out. BL•A•S•T™ continuously engages the torso while it works the chest, back and limbs, and uses the concept of “benchless weight training with an invisible belt”. The BL•A•S•T™ technique forces the strengthening of the body without a crutch.
Why Train with the BL•A•S•T™ Technique?
The muscles in the outer layer are best improved after the inner layers have received individual strengthening and attention.

When physical activity overpowers the body’s ability to stabilize, the body attempts to use the outer layer muscles as stabilizers. Because these large movement muscles are not designed for stabilization, this action compromises the body’s biomechanics and can cause injury and/or pain. Following the BL•A•S•T™ program format will provide greater strength gains in a shorter time span, with a greatly reduced risk of injury, because BL•A•S•T™ first addresses the stabilizer muscles, then works the larger muscles.
Goal and Purpose of BL•A•S•T™?
The goal of BL•A•S•T™ is to train the body to properly utilize the deep, middle and outer layer muscles. To achieve this goal, BL•A•S•T™ focuses on each muscle layer with an emphasis on accurate technique, high repetition and proper sequence. This method strengthens the deep layer, encourages its communication with the brain, and supports the body’s overall sense of balance.

Frequently, exercises are performed to create significant challenge to the stabilization muscles, causing the body to use outer layer muscles in conjunction with the stabilizer muscles. This supports the natural integrated function of the three muscle layers and effectively strengthens all muscle groups in the shortest possible amount of time.
